Acer sucks if you want a *good* computer, by which I mean if you want something robust that would last you through heavy use. That's my usage profile, so of course I hate Acer. If you're a general user, though, you should be okay.

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been, basically. They *look* about the same and have many of the same issues, but it doesn't come riddle with bugs and is *usually* easier to get XP stuff to work on them. There are exceptions. I get audio/video wonkiness every now and then on vintage software, but there are usually workarounds and it's been a TON more stable than Vista thus far. You'll want the x64 version, though, to make use of all your RAM. I'm not sure whether the version they have up there is x32 or x64, it doesn't really say.

The specs are pretty vague, too. I wouldn't mind seeing more numbers out there, although I guess I could look the series up once I get home if somebody more knowledgeable hasn't chimed in yet. What do you plan to use it for, specifically?
