Wow. The Dark Knight was even better than I expected it to be. And that's saying something, since I went in with decently high expectations.
I've never been actually scared by a Batman villain before, but both of them terrified me in this one.
Also, I take back my criticism of the new Batmobile. It may be ugly, but it is also awesome.
I may be reading too much into it...but I was amused when Lucius said that the new batsuit would be effective against cats. I so SO want Catwoman to be in the next one. She is my absolute favourite comic book character and I think she would fit perfectly in this series re-vamp, because like Batman she also doesn't have any powers. The only issue I can think of is stigma from the Catwoman movie, but that wasn't really Catwoman...and putting her in the new movie could also help people forget about the old one (just like the new Batman movies are doing for Batman & Robin XD).
LOVE the moral ambiguity that all the characters ended up having to deal with. SO awesome. Best part was the convict who threw the detonator out the window.
And I loved how it kept you guessing the entire time. I kept trying to predict things and ended up wrong most of the time.
LOVE what they did with Two-Face. I was surprised that he was killed off, I had thought they were setting up to use him later. But even though it was very brief, it was very memorable and I'm so glad that I hadn't seen any pictures of him before going to the movie.
I'm curious at how they kept Commissioner Gordon's daughter out of the limelight. She only appeared once and was never named, even in the credits. Her mother's name is Barbara, however. Of course, I don't expect that we'll necessarily see any of the sidekicks show up (though I would not be sad to see Robin appear, because Dick is a pretty awesome character too) but I do wonder why they didn't even show the future Batgirl at all, really. Very intriguing.
I don't think I'd ever seen Maggie Gyllenhaal in anything else, but she's really adorable. She also looks a fair amount like Natalie Dormer, who played Anne Boleyn in The Tudors. I actually really liked Rachel, and I TOTALLY ship Rachel/Harvey so much more than Rachel/Bruce. Though I am glad that Alfred burned the letter.
And of course I can't not mention Heath Ledger. OMG this makes me so sad about his death all over again. He was amazing. And absolutely terrifying.
I also love that the "Dark Knight" title doesn't necessarily just refer to Batman, at least not in my mind. Not only do you have the play on words with "Dark Night" but I also think it really fits Harvey at the end, when the "White Night" had become just like everyone else.
I want to believe in Harvey Dent.
This really is the Batman movie that we've been waiting for. I do love Batman Returns, but this one just has such a different feel to it.
Though I miss the Batman theme, even if this one had very awesome music too.

I kind of liked Batman and Robin, though think it would of been better if they stuck to Poison Ivy [Uma Thurman makes everything good] and did Babs Batgirl, not mysteriously un-English neice of Alfred.
If they didn't kill Joker off I wonder if they'd ever recast him, cause I'm still itching for a movie Harley Quinn [though BoP TV fills that in too now that I think about it]
