Some major spoilers in this one, related to the ending of TellTale's Walking Dead Season One and beginning of Season Two.

Oh god, Clementine. She's one of the most recent additions to the list, along with the next two, but definitely one of the most memorable.

There was a review of the first season that mentioned the lengths the player will go just to keep Clem alive and hear her speak another line. And it is so true. Clementine was definitely a risk to include in the game (and she almost wasn't) but I absolutely cannot imagine it happening without her.

I've always been a fan of child characters who are actually written like real children and Clem is one of the best examples (another example, Rin from Bunny Drop, almost made the list as well). The writing also works really well to make her the moral compass for Lee, though the compass becomes harder and harder to decipher as the story goes on.

I've played through Season One twice now, once with a Lee who was very protective about Clem but wouldn't shelter her, and one who was pretty damn blunt all the time. The first Lee had Clem shoot him, while the other told her to just run (to be fair, it probably would have made more sense to have her shoot him again, but I wanted to see a different ending). Both endings left me in tears, not because Lee was dying but because Clementine was being left all alone (though at least Season Two did confirm that she found Krista and Ovid at the end).

Clem's arc from resourceful but scared little girl in the first episode of Season One to the still resourceful but far less innocent protagonist of Season Two really is incredible. Since I have to Season One playthroughs, I also have played episode on of Season Two twice, once with a resourceful but still sweet Clem (who was protected by Lee) and one with a much harder one (who came face-to-face with the harsh truth more often when Lee was around).

I really love the fact that TellTale again took a risk in making the protagonist a child and can't wait to see where her story goes, though I live in great fear that what is left of my heart will be stomped upon in future episodes.
