Mar. 7th, 2004 03:18 pmOk, well I have had an interesting afternoon. Had Sackvilloma practice for a few hours. It was in the basement of my residence, a fact which I shamelessly flaunted by going down in my pyjama pants. Very comfortable, though I am still sore from yesterday.
While practice was happening, I finished my picture of EVIL QUATRE CLONE as The Chibi of Doom. He is the only character that I know of to look evil in Chibi form. I think it turned out well, though it would have been better if I had practiced a bit more with my Chinese ink kit. I do like the fact that I was finally really able to use that thing though, because I lot it.
Well, before practice I read the Esca manga, and found it quite strange. I am still glad I bought it, but I don't think I will get the rest of the series. I am interested in finding the shoujo manga though, to see what it is like. Plus, it is only two volumes, so a much cheaper obsession. Vision of Escaflowne is an anime very near and dear to my heart, because it was probably the first anime I really latched onto, and then was devastated when Fox stopped playing it. I'm so glad I have seen the whole thing now though. Woohoo! And I own the movie, and some of tbe manga, and I am making a Hitomi costume for Anime North (the pink dress). I really like Esca, if you hadn't already noticed that =P
Here is a list of the differences between the manga and the series, for those who are interested (I'm going to ignore the movie at this point, because comparing the three different version would just be difficult)
- Hitomi looks TOTALLY different in the manga. She has long brown hair and glasses. And she can morph into a blond chick. She is also more sexed up, for fanboy service.
- Van is basically the same, except even more of a jerk to Hitomi (if that is possible =P)
- Allen seems pretty much the same, only Hitomi isn't as love-struck by him, so I don't hate him as much as I do in the series (DEATH to Allen)
- Merle is not there. I am happy, because she annoys me!
- Van's mother is still very alive.
- Dilandau is TOTALLY different in appearance, and I'm pretty sure he isn't Selena in the manga. He could be female though, I guess.
- Everyone wears poffy clothing, except Hitomi who is in skin-tight stuff. Of you though Allen's clothing was bad before...wait until you check out what he's in now.
- Hitomi was summoned into Gaia (kinda like in the movie) to power Escaflowne. She is the "energist", which means Van didn't have to kill a dragon this time.
- Van isn't very good in Escaflowne yet. I like this change, because it doesn't make sense how he would be able to fight so amazing in a weapon he had only just gotten a hold of. Practice makes perfect, right.
Well, that's the main differences. I am rather amused by some of the lines. Especially when Hitomi tells Van he should learn anger management, and he replies that he'll anger management her face. He is quite an out-of control little princling in this. Once again, very amusing.
So, that's what's happened so far today. I may update again tonight, though probably not, because tonight all that I can see happening is my doing my Latin assignment.
