Life's been a bit of a whirlwind the last couple of days. On Thurs night, friends and I went out to celebrate my birthday. Friday was my birthday (the big 3-0!) and I took the day off, got a tattoo (picture below), saw The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with my parents, and went out to dinner with them. Then on Saturday we drove up to Ajax to go to my cousin's wedding. I took the train back yesterday to pick Imriel up from my aunt and uncle's before he caused any trouble (he was mostly okay), had family dinner that night complete with chocolate birthday cake, and then played a ringette game.

I ended up taking today off because my stomach has been acting up all weekend (probably due to Thurs celebrations) and I am still feeling pretty wiped. But it was lots of fun.

My long-planned Kushiel's Legacy-inspired tattoo! )

Today was the Carp Fair and it was excellent! It was a wonderful weekend to be outside - an Indian summer to make up for the fact that we didn't really get a real summer, I guess. I went over after church and took a look at the vendors. I always buy fudge from one of them and was very happy to get chocolate mint this year, since they were sold out last year. I also found a very lovely necklace.

The highlight was, as always, the heavy horse show. Once again there were 25 6-horse teams in the ring at the same time, meaning we had 150 heavy horses in there. I was volunteering this year and ended up assigned to the gate to the show ring, which meant I had a great vantage point for watching the competition.

There were also 3 8-horse teams later. I cheered for the one that didn't come close to running me over when entering the ring at the beginning (since most competitors don't bring 8 horses with them, these teams are typically made up by putting horses from different stables together and sometimes things don't quite mesh right away, though it seemed to get better once they were in the ring and got going).

Between these and yesterday's Dane walk and ringette game, it has been a pretty exhausting weekend. I am looking forward to my customary work-from-home Monday tomorrow, it's always nice and quiet.

I am back home from a long weekend at Toronto for FanExpo and visiting. I had an amazing time but am now hitting the ground running to get caught up with work, fun times. I do have some new costume pics though that I will share eventually, though it may not be tonight because I have a meeting to go to at Church (I somehow got talked into being the chair of the Christian Education committee, lucky me!).

Been a little swamped recently, with end of term followed a visit from Uncle Scott and Ashley, followed by lots of rehearsal for this play thing at church, followed by work, followed by going out to see Jurassic Park in 3D (which was awesome, btw).

It's exhausting just writing that.

I have an interview for a potential unpaid placement at 11 today, so that's taking up my morning so far but I think I'm pretty much ready now, aside for the fact that I'm still in my pyjamas. Hopefully it goes well because I really want things to get settled sooner rather than later.

I'll see about getting back into the meme afterwards.

Idea snagged from [personal profile] bucaneve. Posting 3 good things that happened today.

1. I got my haircut and, while I'm a bit sad at the loss of length, I am hopeful that I will have less tangles now!

2. My co-op fees were paid AND turned out to be less than I was anticipating.

3. I made good progress on my website, which is partly for school and partly to promote my writing, more on this when I've got it looking a little closer to how I imagine it to be.

I've decided that I am going to stay home this weekend instead of going with my parents to celebrate Easter with Dad's side of the family. Not exactly my favourite plan but definitely a necessary one, since I really can't afford to lose a long weekend and I know that I won't be getting anything done if I'm not home.

Also, I avoid having to try and sleep on an air mattress in Grandma's sweltering house with my parents snoring beside me, so that's a plus.

So, I have decided that for this coming month that I need to stop trying to control the chaos and figure out a way to just go with it. If I haven't figured out a way to make life feel more balanced by now, it's just not going to happen. So, attitude adjustment, here I come! Long live anarchy! etc, etc, etc ...

I think after this week school is going to ease up significantly, at least. And then I can start to really panic about my work placement this summer. And everything else.

I am also preparing myself for devastation on Thursday as the Lizzie Bennet Diaries comes to an end. However, I am anticipating that the Sanditon series over the summer may have some guest appearances by LBD characters, or at least updates from Gigi about how everyone is doing.

I has the Fire Emblem 3DS! Very shiny and exciting. Sadly, I am working tomorrow which means tonight I need to get shit done and so can't just play the game. I actually would not have gotten it now except that the set (as well as the game) was selling out pretty fast and I wasn't sure if they would make any more. So I had to buy it now, just to be sure.

I am awesome at rationalizing such things ^_^

I am working tomorrow to make up for missing Friday to get to Kingston for the ringette tournament this weekend. Very excited for that, I haven't been to the Kingston tournament since I was in grade 12, probably (I'm assuming we went that year, since I think we went every year). But I do have two things due on Thursday so I need to get a move on.

Hopefully I can get things done faster than expected though and get another chapter or two done.

And maybe one of these days I'll go down and finish Radiant Dawn, since I think I may be one the last battle for that one.

And one day I should pick up Shadow Dragon as well.

I feel like I still haven't figured out how to best make this new schedule work. It's been draining enough that I generally don't feel like writing or rping and art or anything like that. Hopefully this will change as time goes by but I may need to re-think how I do some things.

Or maybe I'll have my hours at work cut and have more time hanging out on campus -_-

Of course, the fact that I have the Sims 2 on my computer again and discovered the pre-set Shakespearean-inspired world has not helped my productivity. Romeo now has 5 children, none of whom are full siblings. I have also added Lizzie Bennet Diaries Sims because LBD is awesome (Lydia is one of Romeo's baby mamas, while Jane just gave birth to Charles Lee).

No choir practice tomorrow, which might mean I can get back on track with some things, hopefully.

YAY, IT'S FINALLY A SNOW DAY! I was so disappointed on Monday when the roads turned out to not be bad, so I am glad to have a reason to stay home today ... even better, it was only going to be a half work day anyway.

So, I have a lot of baking to get done over the next couple of days, though I can't get started until we manage to get out to Bulk Barn, which probably won't be for awhile. So I have some cleaning and some writing to keep myself occupied, as per usual.

Life is pretty good (provided the baking at least mostly turns out how I want it to).

Time for a quick life update, yay!

ConBravo is this weekend and as a result, this week and the next have gotten insanely busy. I've been getting lots of hours at the store, for reasons unknown. For once, I actually wish this wasn't the case but hey, money is good. Plus I am going to miss the girls when we close.

I did get in to the office yesterday. And then went to hang out with Jean's kids. And then came home and lay down because my stomach hurt. And promptly slept for 12 hours. Good times.

Feeling better today which is good because I'm working from 1 to close. Really long shift that I really wish didn't exist :(

Tomorrow I'm driving to Burlington for the con. I am expecting it to be lots of fun. They have so many TGWTG guests the mind boggles (plus Spoony ... which could be awkward).

And then next week I work 6 days straight after getting back from the con at a likely ungodly hour ;________;

Why is the weekend over already? Especially given that this is going to be a busy week since I work five days, have Shannon's bridal shower on Friday, and then am volunteering at Ottawa Comic Con all weekend (sadly it will now be without Patrick Stewart but I'm still looking forward to crazy geeky fun!).

As people who've read this for awhile probably already know, I tend to go a little crazy when there is just too much to be done. Hopefully this week will turn out to have more rest periods in it than currently expected but I'm not exactly counting on it :(

Back from Georgetown. It was a nice two days, good to see people even if the occasion wasn't the happiest one. I was impressed by the amount of people who were at the friends' gathering though. Justin clearly had a lot of people in his life who cared about him.

This week is shaping up to be a busy one. I'm definitely going to be going to Mom's office a few days, including tomorrow. And Wednesday I'm off for my Colin time, with a shift on Thursday at La Senza rounding things out.

And then we go back to Georgetown or nearby areas for Easter next weekend, SO MUCH TRAVEL. Hopefully next time I will be able to do some writing en route - sadly the trip there I didn't have enough battery life to do much and tonight my stomach decided it didn't want to behave all that much.

Also I have to write a play about the Last Supper for Good Friday service.

Shannon and I went to see Rent last night as Mom bought me tickets for my birthday but didn't want to go with me herself (it's not her type of show really). It was really awesome to finally see the stage show and how much the movie changed. The main thing which freaked me out is that Seasons of Love isn't at the beginning and I sort of wish it was. The movie took a lot of liberties when it came to the song order.

As far as this production went, it was definitely a good show. Standouts were Mimi, Joanne, and especially the girl who was Maureen because I honestly think she was as good as Idina Menzel and that's impressive. I was talking to Shannon about it and we both agreed that Over the Moon has got to be an intimidating song to perform and she did it spectacularly. I wish Maureen was actually IN more of the show.

We also did a bit of shopping, mostly wedding related. I also bought new pillows because two of the ones I had were probably once white but now are very much now (though some of that definitely was caused by the cases they were in ... but they are also probably 10-15 years old).

Today is going to be a bit busy. Church in the morning and then I have to book it out of there to get to work for 12. There is a visual change tonight so everyone is working but I was able to get my shift changed so that I could go to family dinner tonight, since it's birthday celebration week and I didn't really want to miss it. I'll be away from home for a long time though, almost 12 hours. At least I don't work tomorrow. Or the next day, though I need to figure out when I should go out to Jean's since I am working Wednesday.

As mentioned before, I have been surprisingly busy of late, despite having very few hours at the store. I've went into work with Mom 3 days last week and today this week, to do various stuff on a freelance basis, I guess. It's been interesting, though today's work consisted mostly of punching holes in cardboard flowers. It was riveting.

I'm working tomorrow but only until 2:30, so I'm hoping to get some writing done in this little cafe in the mall until Mom arrives to pick me up. I got my netbook back finally so I can bring it with me, along with one of my longer original short stories (or maybe the comic idea I'm working on, not quite sure yet). I have the same shift on Thursday and on Friday I work till 3, but Mom should be around to pick me up right away then.

I was also busy over the weekend, helping my parents put up a backsplash in the kitchen. It was lots of work but it looks great, I'll share pictures eventually.

Other than that, I've been playing lots of Dragon Age (I currently have 3 Wardens on the go!) and reading and just hanging around. It's been fun though, as per usual, not as productive as I would have liked. But it was still fun so I'll take it ^_^

Day off today! It has to be a productive day to because I am in a bit of a tight spot for Himitsu (though salvageable, I think), I haven't really done much of any writing lately (and even less art!), and I have to do some work on my resume because I have two potential things to apply to out there and more (apparently everyone in Ottawa wants to help me, which makes it nice to be back ... CONTACTS!).

So, busy busy busy but I also need to take some time to relax because I worked just over 40 hours last week and it's really making me feel like I'm in TO again in a bad, worn-out sort of way.
i_paint_the_sky: (Vampire Diaries // Catherine)
I got back to Ottawa late Friday night (well, technically early Saturday morning). And then I had to get to work for 8, fun times! But I did it, despite Elphie's best attempts to make me not sleep and pay attention to her instead.

We're doing inventory at work, which meant yesterday I spent time re-counting for the audit and then started gathering stuff up in boxes to send away because anything that scanned up as recall could AUTOMATICALLY be sent, rather than us having to process it ourselves. This is literally the best thing ever. We currently have 59 boxes of stuff ready to go and I expect to get a few more today as well.

Only bad thing about inventory was my closing shift was changed, which would usually be good but meant that I didn't get to see Derek because he was closing and I wasn't going to wait 5 and a half hours for that when I had stuff to do at home.

So, working from 4-midnight today. I have a bunch of stuff to get done before that so off I go!
i_paint_the_sky: (Torchwood // Tosh & Owen)
I have a rare two days off in a row starting tomorrow, hurrah! This period is going to have to be SUPER productive because I have a lot to do.

And thus, here are THREE to-do lists, all in one!

Wednesday

- dishes
- put up fourth spice rack (I have expanded my collection enough to need it)
- make turnip gratin (except I bought a rutabaga, not a turnip, but close enough!)
- watch Glee while working on with Wii Fit (which I am finally trying to start up again)
- put together the pieces of my series bible for class tomorrow (which will clear things up for...)

Thursday

- write script for pilot
- groceries
- go to class
- DDR marathon! (as well as at least weighing in with Wii Fit)

Friday

- mail Kate's present
- finally get my d*mn hepatitis shot
- laundry
- clean as much of the apartment as I can manage before Margaret and Ryan arrive for another weekend of fun (they are coming up to see Fiddler on the Roof and to hang out some more, since last weekend wasn't as long as initially thought)
- finish my A/R exchange fic? Dare I even hope for time for this? Apparently yes, yes I do.
- DDR or Wii Fit, whichever I feel like most
i_paint_the_sky: (BSG // Baltar Superstar)
So I'm leaving tomorrow morning at about 9. Which means I have a LOT to do today @_@ Such as...

- dishes
- put laundry away
- pack
- deposit money/cheque
- see Jewels when she gets off work
- call potential doctor and see about getting an appointment
- go through fridge to make sure nothing goes bad while I'm gone

- make the 5 last posts I need for this month in Himitsu
- edit story for Shannon (much shorter one this time)
- if I still have time/energy, tidy things up a bit

I did already get my rent money to SG though. Hurrah!
i_paint_the_sky: (BSG // Next Top Model)
Because it's my book, I will take upon myself the task of making sure book club people remember we have a book to discuss soon-ish! Our schedule got nicely messed up with the last one but hopefully we can get back on track. I'm going to be finished soon, enjoying it quite a bit so far.

I finally got laundry done today, hurrah! And I am making bread (rolls and hotdog buns). It is pretty good.

Tomorrow I have lunch with Bruce and I also really need to tackle cleaning the kitchen. And then maybe get through the other two rooms of the house.
i_paint_the_sky: (Terminator // John & Cameron)
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!!! (You won't read this until tomorrow though so I will call too XD)

Today's goal: not leave home except for getting groceries. I have been too busy this last week and need time to relax. Also, I still have a lot of stuff to unpack and find places for here.

To-do List:

- groceries
- dishes
- unpacking

- write Megan fic
- get at least two more songs for the FST god I am running out of time!
- get at least two more scenes done for the A/R MOL fic which I am also running out of time for (especially since I think I picked the 13th)
- edit fic for Jes

(Oooooo, moodtheme is from Colonial Day. Yay A/R dancing!)
