Last year, I decided to give baking as my Christmas presents to my mother's side of the family. It went pretty well, so I'm doing the same thing again this year.

So far, I think it has gone a bit better than before. It appears as those destiny does not want me to successfully make rumballs though. Last year they didn't work out that well and this year they are perhaps even worse, with a completely different recipe even!

However, that's the only thing I've had real trouble with, probably because the rest of the stuff is from recipes I've used before, with one exception.

Family Christmas is, oddly enough, tomorrow. Not my preferred timing since for me it often doesn't really feel like Christmas until Christmas Eve service but it's the time that worked best for all and I'm sure once there is a turkey in the oven I'll be feeling more in the spirit.

YAY, IT'S FINALLY A SNOW DAY! I was so disappointed on Monday when the roads turned out to not be bad, so I am glad to have a reason to stay home today ... even better, it was only going to be a half work day anyway.

So, I have a lot of baking to get done over the next couple of days, though I can't get started until we manage to get out to Bulk Barn, which probably won't be for awhile. So I have some cleaning and some writing to keep myself occupied, as per usual.

Life is pretty good (provided the baking at least mostly turns out how I want it to).

Been awhile since I wrote any general life stuff here. So ... general lift stuff time!

I've been working a lot, generally about 40 hours a week, which is about double what I expected. It's good for money but not so good when it comes to all the other stuff I wanted to be focusing on now that I'm in Ottawa. But it is Christmas and so I know once the Boxing Week/Semi-Annual Sale stuff is over that things will calm down some. Also, I did have an interview for the camp secretary position this week that went pretty well, I'll know soon whether or not that is going to happen.

Other than that, I've been playing video games (lately, Dragon Age, which is wonderful and addicting, though I am frustrated because I got killed and the last save point completely missed the last city I'd been in ;_;). And reading. And watching stuff. And downloading a million things because we just upgraded the internet here and, while it is still inconsistent, it's faster when it works. Also, right now we have unlimited bandwidth for six months. Gotta make the most of it.

Not too much else to say. I'm going to be baking all my Christmas presents this year and since I have this coming Friday off, I'm making it a baking (and probably very little else) day. Should be fun, provided the recipes turn out like they should.

Oh, also, I watched Memento last night and have officially decided that I need to track down every film Christopher Nolan has made and watch it because the only one I haven't loved of his was Batman Begins, which was mostly because of the "eh, Batman origin story again?" reaction I had. I'm actually reading the Inception and Philosophy book now and I'm just loving it. And Memento, while perhaps not as entertaining as Inception, is definitely a bit more challenging intellectually. And brilliant. God, I want to write like this man does.

Lovely day today. I spent most of it at a screenwriting conference at Ryerson which was very interesting and gave me a lot of ideas for the webseries I've been working on off and on recently and which I hope to develop further during the advanced screenwriting class. I also now have a launching pad for contacting some people which is also very snazzy.

After the conference was over, I headed to U of T's campus to see my friend Phil's graduation concert, which was excellent. Then I went back to the hotel his family was staying at and we played cards and Taboo which was also very fun.

So I am finally back now. The plan for the rest of the night is to try and get entirely caught up with Caprica and get my fan fic for it finished (I would also like to complete my fic for Big Bang Theory, if possible, so then my only WIP would be done which would clear up time for work on my webseries).

Tomorrow I stop slacking off and have to do my best to finish up what I can of my freelance assignment (I meant to do this Friday but then decided I would rather not because slacking off is fun!). I know there is something different I'll need to do during next week though, since I have an email from the woman the project is for, asking me to call her on Monday. Hopefully whatever changes I need to make are minimal though, since I almost have the rest of it done (or at least as close to being done as possible).

And tomorrow there is a staff meeting from 6-9 and I'm hoping I might be able to make cookies for it, especially since I finally have a cookie tin. But we'll see how the timing all goes as to whether or not that will happen.
