My mom was killing time today during lunch and ended up finding some other programs in publishing that could be of interest. I already knew about some of them (the masters program at Simon Frasier, which is a bit more than I'm interested in) but others were new.
The main one of interest is a program at Centennial College in Toronto. It's a year-long and sounds of interest. I'm debating whether it would be worth it to apply however. Since this program starts in Sept 2007 and Humber's is in May 2007, they are in different periods as far as OCAS is concerned and thus to apply to both I need to play the application fee twice (the fee is $85). Centennial's application also involves a portfolio of previous work or references, which I'm not sure about since I frankly have never done anything really involved in publishing before.
The worst part is that the deadline to apply is Feb 1st, which means that I can't wait to hear from Humber first.
I really don't know. The program sounds good (though I still think I like the timeline on Humber's a bit better, since it's 4 months rather than 8...plus Centennial seems to have required classes in magazine publishing, which I'm not terribly interested in) and especially nice is the internship with a Toronto publisher. I am very uncertain however if I would get in (they have 200+ applications usually with only 40 spots).
There is also a program at Ryerson University which is odd because it doesn't seem to need any application, you just enroll and show up or something. There's internships there as well. So there's another possibility.
This is all really beginning to stress me out ;_; I thought I was done with this application thing back in grade twelve.
