Feb. 21st, 2009 07:40 pmI watched Dances with Wolves today, because Mary McAwesome is in it and I love her. It was...interesting.
Really LONG. And yet there was so much more it could have done. Needed more development and faster pacing. It could easily have been half an hour shorter, maybe even more.
Especially needed love story development because that actually sort of sucked (which was a pain, since that was where MM got most of her screen time). It was definitely one of those main guy must hook up with main girl so we don't need to actually show it develop or anything. It was cute in the end, but yeah...could have done more. Even just with Stands with a Fist's character, since there's an interesting story there.
The language thing however was FASCINATING. For those who don't know, most of the movie is in the Lakota language...and apparently is supposed to have subtitles. But uh...
There were no subtitles on the video file.

Oops.
BUT IT WAS FASCINATING! Watching scenes and not knowing what was being said. I thought it was supposed to be like that.

Oh, also, Kevin Costner is SO bad, omg. My mom was talking about a review that said "I wouldn't call him wooden but you could build a damn good fence out of him." And that about sums it up.
If I ever watch it again, I'll make sure to have the subtitles on XD
