Sep. 28th, 2014 09:11 pmToday was the Carp Fair and it was excellent! It was a wonderful weekend to be outside - an Indian summer to make up for the fact that we didn't really get a real summer, I guess. I went over after church and took a look at the vendors. I always buy fudge from one of them and was very happy to get chocolate mint this year, since they were sold out last year. I also found a very lovely necklace.
The highlight was, as always, the heavy horse show. Once again there were 25 6-horse teams in the ring at the same time, meaning we had 150 heavy horses in there. I was volunteering this year and ended up assigned to the gate to the show ring, which meant I had a great vantage point for watching the competition.
There were also 3 8-horse teams later. I cheered for the one that didn't come close to running me over when entering the ring at the beginning (since most competitors don't bring 8 horses with them, these teams are typically made up by putting horses from different stables together and sometimes things don't quite mesh right away, though it seemed to get better once they were in the ring and got going).
Between these and yesterday's Dane walk and ringette game, it has been a pretty exhausting weekend. I am looking forward to my customary work-from-home Monday tomorrow, it's always nice and quiet.
