Nov. 8th, 2014 09:56 amI've been re-reading the Imriel trilogy of Kushiel's Legacy and really found myself all in love with the series all over again. And, oddly enough for the first time, I actually was hit with the idea to write fan fic for it, in a piece that covers Sidonie's storyline while Imriel is in Alba during Kushiel's Justice.
I'm really enjoying it so far but it also suddenly made me realize that how I use paragraphs in my writing is probably influenced a lot by Carey's style. Mainly how I will have short, one sentence paragraphs if there is something I want to really emphasize.
It's kind of strange because this is the first time I've been really aware of this happening. I know I also have a tendency to string together complicated yet grammatically correct sentences which I think is inspired by Victorian literature but nothing else that I feel I can attribute to one person.
On the plus side, it is making my fic sound almost like Carey wrote it!
