i_paint_the_skyDeath Note anime ramblings. Cut for spoilers (for those who only know the manga, the anime is about halfway through, at the Yotsuba arc).
You know, I'm not feeling the love for this series so much anymore. The first arc was awesome, but once Light gave up the Death Note it just seems to have gone downhill. It's just not half as suspenseful and there are times when things seem contrived rather than natural, especially when it comes to the investigation. Plus, Light as Kira was so much more entertaining to watch than Light as himself, plus I actually find the contrast between current Light and the Light we saw right at the beginning before finding the Death Note is a bit too much.
I also cannot stand Misa and want to strangle her. The fangirl thing was interesting at first, but now it just makes her such a one-dimensional character. Apparently the anime is playing up her "bishoujo-y-ness" so maybe she's not as bad in the manga, but the moments that she is on screen are usually my least favourite of the last episodes.
"Stalker-san" is still win, however.
The only character I actually really am enjoying right now is L. But he's really getting pretty disturbing lately and I'm not sure what to make of it. But he's still interesting and this is why he wins. I'm actually very interested in the spin-off movie they are planning to make, since apparently it deals with the woman whose name I can't remember right now, Ray Penbar's fiancee, who was one of my favourite characters in the series.
Oh, also the new OP animation is awesome but the music is so horrible. Japanese deathmetal, blah.
