So, I understand why people say stop reading Death Note at vol 7 now.
And so L is dead. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think it was a REALLY bad move though, to kill him at this point of the story. I remember being impressed when I first heard that Death Note was contained at only 12 volumes, but now I'm feeling that it is going to drag on longer than it had to. The Yotsuba arc itself was a bit...blah and now with no L, I really don't know what to expect.
Except that I have to admit that I don't have high hopes in liking it, from what I've heard. I just don't see how the show can sustain itself with the KEY ASPECT (L and Light's dynamic) now gone.
I also have to admit I don't like that Rem was the one to kill L. I would have prefered that Light did it directly. But if it had to be this way, it was well done and I don't say that L shouldn't die at all, I just think the timing was a huge mistake.
I'll be watching for a bit longer to see if I'm right, but now I can see myself giving up on the series and just reading spoilers to find out how it ends. Which is sad because the series really started off so great, but then the Yotsuba arc hit and everything just started to not be half as cool as it once was. And even having Light back as Kira might not be able to make up for no L.
