I just watched the NANA 2 movie finally...or most of it, at least. I got a bit bored at the end, I'll admit, just because there was SO much cut out. Entire characters and plotlines. It was very upsetting. Of course, I was expecting as much, after the first movie. But I was hoping this one would be better, because it looked it. But not so much.
It's not a bad movie, but it just is so lacking.
It did make me want to go read the manga again. Unfortunately, I only have 3 volumes of it ;_; Must get more!
Okay, time to move onto the to-do list tasks.

Movies always tend to cut out plotlines and people and whatnot, regardless. It's like a rule or osomething.

on 2007-08-06 04:14 pm (UTC)I realize they have to cut a lot, but it gets to the point where it's just ridiculous. The main thing that was missing was EVERYTHING between Layla and Shin. Which is very upsetting, because I love their story. But both of them are pretty much part of the scenery rather than actual characters.

on 2007-08-06 04:40 pm (UTC)Yeah, I know. It's pretty much just the relationship with the Nanas, plus the Nana/Takumi thing does get a decent amount of attention, though it's still missing parts. The first movie really screwed Shouji over, because they didn't even touch on Hachi's past and so when he cheated on her it really seemed jerky, which it admittedly was but the relationship had problems beyond that.
Even Ren doesn't really get all the much in NANA 2, though that might be an accurate depiction, since it is Ren XD

on 2007-08-06 04:53 pm (UTC)I really love the anime, possibly even more than the manga because it has the advantage of having music. At very least, they are equal in my mind.

on 2007-08-06 04:59 pm (UTC)Admittedly, that was one thing that made me interested in the anime (or the idea of it) to actually be able to HEAR Blast and Tranes. But I just cheated and downloaded all the music. >>
