ATTN STAR WARS GEEKS! I know there are a bunch of you on my FL and I need your help.

So, for awhile I have had an idea in the back of my head about the Star Wars prequels. I had been musing on them for awhile and came to the realization that, on a whole, the story concept was pretty sound. It was just the actual execution where everything came apart. And so, inspired by the number of re-imagined TV series that have been made recently, I came up with the idea to write a 're-imagined version' of the PT.

Now, for this summer I am planning to tackle The Phantom Menace. And this is where you come in. Below I will list the changes I already have in mind and you can give feedback and also I'd love to know what things you think should have been done differently. No promises that I will take all suggestions but they will definitely be given solid consideration.


Planned Changes

- NO FUCKING MIDICHLORIANS. They are stupid and pointless. The Force does not need to be explained.
- Amidala will not be an elected official because no place is going to elect a fourteen year old girl to rule their planet. So she will be Queen by birthright, which means she'll be Queen for the entire trilogy.
- The Gungans will not be comic relief. We have the droids and Obi-snark for that. Really, I think the ideas around Naboo were the biggest failing of TPM because it could have been a much more interesting planet.
- Anakin is going to be older. I haven't quite figured out an exact age but I'm thinking 11-ish.
- Deleted scenes will be back in if they deserve to be. I don't know much about the scenes for TPM actually but I will definitely consider all of them for this.
- I want to change how the Sith are initially shown, putting more focus on Maul and less on Sidious (making him more of a "phantom menace").
- This is a small one, but I want to bring Cliegg Lars into the picture a bit earlier.

This to Keep

- I will keep the text of the opening scroll as intact as possible for all three.
- The basic order of scenes will stay the same, even if the scene itself is very different.
- I think I will keep some of the lines that actually do work, though these are few and far between.
- There will be no removal or addition of characters. The cast will be completely the same, at least in name.

In my ideal world, I get this completely written over the summer and start posting in September. Of course, my ideal world also involves many other unrealistic things so we shall see XD

Have you watched any of the Clone Wars animated series? They did an arc at the end of this last season that involved Darth Maul's homeworld that might be of interest to you.

I watched a bit of it but honestly didn't really like it that much. I definitely will try and find summaries for info though, thanks ^_^
