What's this! An actual recap of FanExpo stuff? AMAZING.

No pics yet. Will work on that but this requires less bandwidth and time.

First off, in general I must say this was the best run FanExpo has ever been. The only hiccups I saw were some volunteers not being as good at organizing as others and no posted autograph times. Other than that though, things were pretty good. And now onto the panels ...

Nana Visitor

- She is so sweet and funny! And also a foodie.
- She loves fandom because of the passion and the fact that she basically lives in it. Also, her son is a total geek (he of course is the child she was pregnant with during filming, whose father is Siddig El Fadil).
- Apparently the hardest person to work with was Avery Brooks (after seeing his panel a few years ago, I can believes this), mainly because his mind works in interesting ways. Apparently Nana had to play interpreter for directors who were new to the series in the later seasons, since she could understand his comments while the directors could not.
- We had the guys from Space as moderators (and they were amazing!) and AJ was there for this one. He had also been a moderator at the TNG reunion and was told to try and make sure someone didn't dominate the conversation. When he asked Nana who in the DS9 cast would have been the person to watch for, she eventually decided that it might be her since she couldn't think of anyone else.
- Apparently she couldn't stand Marc Alaimo when he was in Dukat's make-up/costume but loved him when he wasn't.
- She was crazy passionate about DS9 when filming it, to the point where she said she might have been willing to tattoo the station on her head. She cried for 2 weeks when it ended. Also, they were apparently always told that Paramount was weird about licensing/promoting and so were up-front told the show would run for 7 years and would not have any movies.
- She confirmed what Michael Dorn said at his panel a few years back that the DS9 cast were a very serious bunch. The only funny thing she could tell AJ to ask René Auberjonois about was that first kiss, when latex met latex.
- She wished they had been able to do more with Kira and her faith in the series but that it didn't go over great with audiences so they didn't.
- She never watched the Ro Laren episodes (Ro was originally going to be a lead character but Michelle Forbes turned it down) before because Kira was so fully-fleshed in her head right away that she didn't need to.
- When asked to pick between Kira's love interests, she went with Odo because he's the most versatile ;)
- She also thinks she kissed the most other people of anyone on the cast, including Dax (and apparently that kiss got a lot of attention ... suddenly the set was full of men, even from other shows!).
- She used to sit on the Promenade set at 2AM and sometimes began to believe she was in a space station. She also took part of the set home the day before they were told they were not supposed to bring parts of the set home.

Levar Burton

- This panal turned into the Reading Rainbow appreciation hour, which was hilarious though I'll admit I didn't grow up with the show much (Mom says we didn't watch it because it didn't have much music).
- He hated the visor because it was screwed into his head and limited his vision a lot so that he couldn't see his feet and thus had an interesting time being able to move around without running into things. He also has the visor.
- Lots of people in the audience wanted to thank him for the portrayal of someone with disabilities who ended up really just having more abilities because of it. Also for making black cool.
- He had some good digs about Sir Patrick Stewart who, of course, had cancelled his appearance for the con. Good times there.
- When asked who his favourite character to act with was, his answer was Data. When asked who his least favourite actor to work with was, his answer was Brent Spiner.
- If he was inviting 6 co-workers to a dinner party, he would go with Marina Sirtis, since she would hate him if he didn't, and Gates McFadden because Marina was invited. And Dorn because if you have the ladies, you need Dorn. Brent and Jonathan Frakes to drink with. And Patrick Stewart to pick up the bill.

John Rhys-Davies

- I don't remember as much from him because he had a tendency to ramble and I couldn't always pick out what he was saying but it was still a great panel.
- He found it very difficult to play Treebeard because how do you figure out what a tree sounds like when you don't even know how it has a voice to make sound with at all.
- He really didn't have a good time on Sliders because the show could have been great but instead ripped everything else off under the sun.
- He was a bit horrified to be offered Gimli because he had spent all this amount of time trying to be recognizable and now he was in a role where no one would recognize him.

Kate Mulgrew

- She pretty much hit on every male member of the audience =P She also started giving people a hard time for coming up with "devices."
- There was a girl dressed in a Morrigan costume that she also got excited about (though she didn't recognize it). Also there is always a Seven of Nine in the audience and the one we had was very good.
- The first season was a bit difficult because the studio was obsessed over her physical appearance a lot. Eventually they cared less about her hair and her bosoms.
- She did not want to see Janeway have an affair with Chakotay because she knew she'd be known as the Captain who slept with her First Officer if that had happened.
- She is okay with the fact that she will always be remembered as Janeway more than anything else.
- She thinks Mrs. Columbo was a really bad idea for a show but it wasn't something she could pass up at the time.
- On the last day of filming, the set was being taken down around her. When she got up for the last time, people came right in and unscrewed the captain's chair. And then from the side there was a voice and Robert Picardo came out, told her she had done great, and then they went off to have some champagne.
- Hilary and Chelsea Clinton would watch the show together and so Hilary invited Kate to come to a dinner with all these female scientists and speak to them. She wrote a speech on the plane but when she got there, she threw it out and admitted that there was nothing she could tell them. She later met an MIT grad whose father hadn't thought there was a place for women in science until they watched Voyager ... and now she (the MIT grad) was going to NASA.
- She was recommended a few books during the first season to read to understand the technobabble more and after she did that got much easier.
- Patrick Stewart was there on one of the first days and told her that it would be difficult but if she survived the schedule, the role would be the highlight of her career.
- She did her best to keep the boys in line, since she's the eldest of 8 in an Irish family (which is one reason the obsession with appearance annoyed her in season 1). But apparently they liked to play tricks and fool around, which she was less into since she had children that she wanted to get home to.

OH GOD THIS IS LONG. Going to try and be briefer for the rest. For my poor fingers' sake.

James Marsters & Juliet Landau

- I have never heard Juliet Landau speak before and was surprised that she is not actually British!
- They had amazing chemistry from day 1 on set
- James auditioned for True Blood but was told he was too small to believably fight Alexander Skarsgård. He wished they had realized he'd made a career of fighting guys bigger than him.
- James' fiancee directed the kiss between John and Jack on Torchwood.

John Barrowman

- HE SANG PHANTOM WITH AN AUDIENCE MEMBER!!! It was awesome. Audience member also had a very good voice.
- He can slip back and forth from American to Scottish accent without any trouble because he's so used to it.
- God, this panel was hilarious but I don't remember any more specifics, brain is fried now. But it was awesome!

Gillian Anderson

- She apparently has a terrible memory (she at one point referred to David Duchovny as "Mark" though she did catch herself).
- She is interested in science but tends to forget anything she reads about it (again with the memory).
- She is a believer in the supernatural/extraterrestrial/unexplained.
- This was her third con ever but she only remembers going on one before it (noticing a trend?)
- Hilariously I am also blanking on other things that happened in this panel. I may add more to this post later.

AMAZING GUEST LIST OR WHAT??? And I had to miss Alan Tudyk and Jamie Bamber because of conflicts.
