Well, that place was disappointing. The landlord was a bit sketchy to begin with, I found, and the neighbourhood wasn't that nice. The building itself was really ugly on the outside and the inside wasn't all that much better. Of course, the apartment was getting a new floor so it was hard to know what it will look like, but yeah...definitely not going to live there. The only thing it had going for it was size, which was okay.

I haven't heard back from the other place I contacted. Hopefully I do get to see it soon though, to know if I have to start looking at the options that aren't on the subway line (though there are a decent number on the main streetcar routes).

can't imagine what it must be like to apartment hunt...must be exhausting especially if you don't find a potential place relatively soon.

It's not too bad so far, but I started looking early enough to try and keep the pressure off. If I still haven't found a place in a month though, then I will be definitely panicky.
