[livejournal.com profile] yacoba tagged me and since the meme looks interesting, I shall do it (and not ignore tags as per usual).

Total number of books owned:

Honestly, I have no clue. Well over 1000, I'm sure (I know I have over 100 volumes of manga and that's only a fraction of them all). Some day, after I move and have all the ones I want to keep with me, I might count/catalogue them somehow.

Last book bought:

xxxHolic vol 11. At least I'm pretty sure this was the last one I bought, since most of my money in March went towards the Wii. I bought this one just after Animaritime, hilariously enough, from The Hairy Tarantula when I had to go to the post office to send Erin's charger back to her.

Last book read:

I just finished the first Twelve Kingdoms book. Fun times, I want the second book but alas I don't know if I want it enough to buy in hardcover (especially since HC funds need to be saved for the last Kushiel book, OMG the series is almost over!)

Five books that mean a lot to you:

Only five? Ouch. Okay, let's see.

1. The aforementioned Kushiel series (it counts as one, dammit!). I love those books so very much. By far my favourite fantasy series (though Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters trilogy isn't too far behind them).

2. Wuthering Heights. I could read this book a million times and still love it. Emily Bronte is so amazing.

3. White Oleander. Again, another book I could read and read and READ (which means I really need to get Janet Fitch's second book, Paint it Black).

4. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Not the whole series, just this one book. It is brilliant.

5. Gone with the Wind. It was a hard choice, but out of all the others I considered, this is the one that I would pick if I could only have this book and the previous four. Love GWTW, must read it again sometime (maybe slower this time, since I originally read the entire 1000+ pages in uh...less than a week).

Tagging...no one. Tags are lame. If you feel like doing this, go right ahead (and if you really want to, you can pretend I actually tagged you).

When I was working at the public library, Azakaban was the most stolen book in our collection. Not just Harry Potter, but most stolen period.

I need to get the other 1/2 of the Twelve Kingdoms anime soonish, and get those books too.... I imagine the paper back for Book 2'll be out when Book 3 ships.

When the book is out depends on if TokyoPop starts things a bit quicker. Book 2 only just came out in hardcover, but we are hoping they might come out a bit faster since it looks like there are 7 or 8 books in total with how they are being published here and people aren't too keen about waiting 8 years to get the entire series, considering it is already written and all.

I'm pretty sure they stated somewhere the series is annual- which given the small/stillgrowing market for translated japanese novels, kind of makes sense. I imagine we'd see things speed up if the books were big sellers, but that tends to to happen less due to the way scheduling works [I mean, Fruits Basket is still quarterly...]. Bookstores actually prefer slower release schedules, unless it's Naruto or something.

You might want to check our Guardian Spirit Moriboto from Scholastic though- it seems to be similar in terms of cool heroine/epic fantasy w/anime-tie-in-ness
