I don't understand why these memes ask for favourite male/female character and then favourite overall. There aren't many fandoms out there where you won't be repeating yourself by day 3.
For the BSG meme I did my top favourite characters overall and I figured the same thing would work here.
Also, I think I am going to change the last two days, or maybe three, because I don't understand the one about schools and I guess the finales/premieres is about your favourite too but it isn't clear? And I don't know what I would pick for cast friendship. So if anyone out there has suggestions for those days, let me know!
Anyway, here is the rest of my top 10 favourite TVD characters!
3. Klaus
I had to sit and think about whether or not Klaus had actually eclipsed Damon as my favourite male character. Ultimately, the fact that Damon has been around longer tipped the scale but I still completely adore Klaus. Joseph Morgan is just so good! I also like how they have managed to give him complexities and some good points without completely "woobiefying" him in the process. It's still clear why he was a "big bad" and, while he definitely falls into the shades of grey, he's definitely on the darker side for this show.
Also he ripped out hearts to Christmas carols.
And he's hot.
4. Stefan
Huh, interesting. I knew I had become very fond of him post season 3 but I didn't quite realize how high he would rank. The moment Stefan got a dark side, I really began to love him and even enjoy watching his earlier stuff too. The whole ripper thing was so different than the Stefan we knew at the time and I just love that dichotomy.
5. Elena
Oh Elena. She has her moments when I am less fond of her but generally she just plain rocks. Usually its a lot of the little moments that really make her character amazing (especially because the big moments tend to be a) love triangle related or b) involve her coming up with plans that have pretty much always failed (though getting Jeremy to kill Col to complete his mark was particularly brilliant of her, albeit coldblooded).
Actually, I think she is a lot more coldblooded than people generally think. Yes, she will fight tooth and nail for the ones she loved (or she would, before her emotions were turned off) but if you weren't part of "Team Elena," eh, you were very likely to end up dead and she really wouldn't care that much. Not a particularly admirable trait but definitely one that keeps her entertaining.
6. Elijah
SQUEE! I would be very remiss not to put him on this list, since he seems to be the one character closest to being universally loved across the fandom. I don't really know why we all like him so much though, really. He claims to be a man of honour yet we've seen him screw over the main characters before. I guess he just has something noble about him and we all want to like him (Katherine included, apparently).
7. Rebekah
I think Rebekah is one of the characters who has gotten the short end of the stick development-wise. She had a pretty awesome beginning but then I think the writers were sort of at loss ends with what to do with her. However, since she was brought back the most recent time, the direction seems to be there and I do actually hope that somehow, she gets to take the cure (she is, in fact, the only one of the vampires I want to see be cured). I think there would be a really interesting storyline there.
And yeah ... 3 of my top 10 are the Originals ... which is why I have mixed feelings still about the spin-off, though I'm hopeful that if it happens, it will be good.
8. Tyler
I think Tyler also is a character they don't really know what to do with anymore, which is one reason I don't expect to see him on screen anytime soon. And I initially wasn't going to place him here, until I remembered season two and how good he was there. Michael Trevino is uh, very good at acting like he is in absolutely agonizing pain and those transformation sequences are some of the hardest things to watch in the whole show.
9. Matt
Speaking of characters the writers seem at loose ends about ... I actually don't mind as much with Matt though because really, he needs to be more a reactionary character these days. And the scenes he is in have all been pretty incredible. I think he might in some ways be the emotional core of the show at this point. Hmmm.
10. Anna
Originally an honourable mention because NO ONE NOTICED that I originally skipped over 4. But eventually I spotted it so now Anna makes the cut.
I know a lot of people really like Lexi and think she's a character who died too soon and this is true but if I could bring back one dead character, it would be Anna. Anna was awesome and the only character who I really liked with Jeremy as far as pairings go (sorry Bonnie).
I also just adore Anna and Pearl's relationship. Probably a fair amount is because I also love Pearl. But one of the moments I have re-watched most is the very end of the one where all the ghosts are breaking loose and Anna and Pearl find each other. I cry every time!

Also doing 3 good things because I'm feeling a bit out of sorts today and need to cheer up a bit.
1. I FINISHED MY SCARF! Pics to come, I swear, especially since I found the charger for my camera again finally.
2. I marathoned all the episodes I had PVRed of Smash and discovered that, not only could I catch up having missed season 1 but, OMG I LOVE IT!
3. Awesome eps of Doctor Who and Orphan Black. Especially the latter, I'm really interested in seeing where this goes and Tatiana Maslany is absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever seen anyone who was better at playing multiple roles in the same series (and yes, I'm including Nina Dobrev in that statement).

on 2013-04-07 03:37 am (UTC)I just finished DW myself and loved it! Clara is lovely. Hopefully in a bit I'll watch Orphan Black. I enjoyed the first episode a lot and think the show shows lots of potential.
Congrats on finishing your scarf! I can't knit/crochet, but I have finished a latch-hook rug before.

on 2013-04-07 01:08 pm (UTC)Clara is pretty awesome! My only real complain here is that the episode reminded me a bit too much of The Beast Below and, given my concerns about Clara's story being a retread of Amy's or River's, that's not a great sign. And actually, the next episode looks military-ish which is sort of like uh ... that first Dalek episode with Amy too, which is odd and makes me wonder if it's intentional at all.
Orphan Black is awesome. Really excited to see where things go and I've actually seen a scene from the next episode which makes me very interested in one of the new characters introduced in episode 2.
And thanks!

on 2013-04-07 09:46 pm (UTC)Maybe it's intentional? I'm not sure yet. Clara reminds me of a Amy-River fusion (personality wise), so only time will tell if she is or not.
I watched ep2 last night and my love for both Felix and Sarah keeps growing. I can't wait to learn more about Sarah's copies/twins/science experiment sisters next week!

on 2013-04-08 01:31 am (UTC)I'm kinda meh on Doctor Who lately, but I do like Clara. She's cute and lovable but she reminds me a lot of Amy. I guess her excitement, snarkiness and initial flirtatiousness with the Doctor?
Haven't tried Orphan Black but only because I'm behind on the shows I already watch and figure I probably shouldn't start anymore. If it's that good though maybe I'll try it.
And I'd love to see your scarf!
