Look, another vampire! And still not the last on the list!

Zero is my current favourite male anime character. Because apparently I just enjoy self-loathing in my characters. He is fascinating, since he's a vampire who not only hunts but utterly hates vampires. These leads to more than his share of angst in a series that does melodrama so well.

His whole story is just fascinating and he is such a compelling character. I've heard a theory that Zero was originally going to die early on in the series, which I think could very well be true given that the rules concerning his vampirism seem to change slightly in order to keep him around and (relatively) sane. However, he just took on a life of his own and ended up being one of the most popular characters (not to mention part of that fandoms great shipping war).

Also, he is voiced by Miyano Mamoru, who is my favourite seiyuu (though I did already love him from the manga before the anime was made).

Also, he's really pretty. I just might have a body pillow featuring him on my bed. Maybe.
