It's both hard and easy to pick one thing as the best part. What makes it hard is that BioWare games are in so many ways an experience unto themselves, and so all the parts together are what makes it so great.

And it's easy because when it comes down to it, to quote Ron Moore, “it’s the characters, stupid.”

Dragon Age has one of the most amazing cast of characters. It is fun to go into this world and just spend time with them, even when you aren't off fighting darkspawn and demons. The cast is also the main reason I ended up participating hardcore in fandom, because there is just so much possibility with each and every one of them.

Of the main cast, I can't think of any character that I really dislike, which is why it was such a stretch to even come up with an answer on day 3. Even the characters you are supposed to hate are compelling, keeping this world very much in the shades of grey side of things, though with a bit more lightness to it than something like Game of Thrones.

The romance options also are a great thing about the games and I would consider them sort of as an extension of the great cast, particular in Inqusition when there are just so many options! The romances really allow you to connect with a character on an even deeper level and it's really sort of unnerving at times how much these characters get into my head. Particularly Alistair and Anders. Who interestingly enough were the first romances I played in their respective games. It will be interesting to see if Cullen ends up the same way, though right now I don't think he quite will. Probably because he doesn't do crazy things you can't control.

I'm a bit worried that this is a selling point for me in a guy :/

Anyway, this is getting long. The characters are awesome and I love them. It's also one of the reasons I think I love DA2 more than lots of other people, because on a whole I felt like its cast was stronger than Origins, or at least more developed (the series definitely benefited from having the same developer as Mass Effect on that point).
